Sue Kay’s Birthday Wish
Ryan is in his 20th year living with type 1 diabetes. Unfortunately, this past year with the pandemic, has made fundraising and focusing on JDRF a bit tough given all the tragedy we have all faced. But, HOPE is surfacing with the vaccinations and the knowledge of managing and dealing with COVID; and we will once again get to begin to live our lives again.
With that being said, Ryan still lives with his diabetes and JDRF continues to press toward finding the CURE and bringing to market some exciting new therapies to help all diabetics manage this disease and improve their health and quality of life. COVID was a scary risk for Ryan and he had to be extra careful and isolate himself so much (especially because his wacky, old mom worried a ton about him catching this). Happily, he never got COVID and like so many of us is getting back to "life."
So, now I am getting back to helping JDRF raise their research dollars they need to keep the momentum of the Artificial Pancreases solution, the closed loop pump/continuous glucose monitoring devices therapy and the many, many other active research projects focusing on that CURE (JDRF is supporting the most promising scientists in more than 20 countries and funding 400 active research grants).
If you are considering where you might donate any extra dollars you might have this year or want to make this old birthday girl smile, please consider donating here to the JDRF Fund a Cure.
This donation goes directly to JDRF research to help deliver these great tools to assist diabetics managing their diabetes TODAY and ultimately find that CURE. My birthday wish is to help Ryan get that 1 night a week where he could sleep soundly knowing his blood sugar is at a safe level and he will not be awaken in the morning with a high blood sugar to accomplish that sleep. That would give him 52 nights of sleep this coming year where he could safely sleep thru the night!!
And, that would make his old momma a very happy woman!
Thanks for considering this donation.
Sue
P.S. Since his diagnosis, Ryan has:
- lived with T1D for 7,438 days.
- lost over 4,240 hours of sleep.
- checked his blood sugar 41,708 times
- and taken over 51,667 insulin injections.
Your donation to JDRF helps to change the world for Ryan and all the others living with T1D.
